Why Mums Are Turning Their Back On Corporate Life To Master Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is fast becoming a popular option for parents who want to achieve a happier balance between work and family life. So what's it all about?

Everyone needs to adapt their lifestyle when they become parents. Some aspects are relatively easy to change. For example, no more term-time holidays - you might do this begrudgingly but you can adapt.

A big challenge for many is adapting to the demands placed upon them when trying to balance a job and being a parent. Suddenly having to factor in childcare and its many challenges, having to unexpectedly take time off when your child is sick, and you can't remember how many times you have said, 'I can't make the meeting if it's after 5pm'... sorry!

Affiliate marketing is something that you can learn and earn money from. If you are open to learning new skills and willing to invest your time it can generate a very healthy full-time income. The beauty of it is that you can work flexibly, from anywhere at anytime. It gives you flexibility and control. Sounds good right?

But what is affiliate marketing?

In short, affiliate marketing is when one person markets someone else's product and gains a commission when a sale is made. Commissions can range from 1% to as high as 75%.

I'll give an example of how this works.

Imagine this. Sarah has developed this great product and she's keen to start selling it.

How does she find customers? It doesn't matter how good her product is, without customers it's nothing.

She could set up a shop on her local high street. Great idea... in 1985! No, it's 2015 and there is this thing called the internet. The potential reach customers on her high street is really limited, restricted to just people who happen to live nearby. The potential reach for customers on the internet knows no bounds... we're talking billions.

Sarah needs no more convincing. After all, having a physical shop is very costly too.

So she will sell on the internet. She gets a website set up. But now for the big challenge. How to find the customers. She knows there are people out there who would want to buy her product, but how does she reach them and tell them about it?

She knows that she needs to advertise but doesn't have the skills to do that. What's more, she really doesn't want to invest time and money in learning those skills, she wants to stick to what she is good at - developing and selling her product.

This is where affiliate marketing comes in.

Hannah is an affiliate marketer. She is an expert in the niche of Sarah's product. She knows exactly how to bring people who want Sarah's product to her. In exchange, Hannah gets a commission on the price of the product sold.

Everyone is a winner. The customer got a product they wanted. Sarah sold her product (hooray!). Hannah received commission for making the introduction (and didn't have to fulfil the order, get involved in payment, shipping... all those hassles).

Okay, this is a really simple example. Merchants that offer affiliate programmes can vary greatly in terms of size, offerings, products etc. For example, Amazon is one of the largest and diverse affiliate programs.

Affiliate marketing is a low-cost way to raise awareness and showcase products. The difference between traditional marketing and affiliate marketing is that it's a win-win for the merchant because they pay nothing for advertising until the affiliate brings to them a buyer.

Why does affiliate marketing appeal to mums?

Affiliate marketing is a great choice for mums because it's a way to earn an income around balancing family commitments.

Working mums find it to be scalable to their needs and wants. For example, I know a stay-at-home-mum with two young children who built a really successful online business based on affiliate marketing from only working in the evenings - when all is quiet from the kids' bedrooms!

Similarly, I know a mum who after a few months, was able to quit her full-time professional job and earn significantly more, while working fewer hours, as an affiliate marketing entrepreneur.

I could go on with numerous examples and illustrations of how affiliate marketing works for busy mums but I won't. You can work anywhere, at any time, you are your own boss and it's flexible - you get it, I know.

Interestingly, in the UK (according to the Office for National Statistics) 4.2m people were working from home in 2014, which is 13.9% of the working population. Similarly, Forbes magazine posted an article stating that 1 in 5 Americans work from home. Working from home is a growing and totally respectable way to earn a living. We largely have advancements in technology and the digital economy to thank for that!

How do people get started with affiliate marketing?

You may be wondering how to get started, and perhaps asking yourself what skills and experience you need. The answer is that you don't need any prior skills or experience, because everything can be taught. Anyone who is open to learning and willing to put in some hard work can succeed.

I could launch into a long list of the steps, that if followed diligently, would stand you in good stead for success with affiliate marketing... but I won't! That's an entirely separate article which I will write very soon... Okay, I can't help myself. Here is my brain dump list of getting started... choose a niche, find products, join an affiliate program, get a domain name & hosting, find a mentor, join a community, set up a free website/blog, add content, focus on providing value (value value value!), build relationships, gain followers, learn targeted advertising...

Personally, I invested in training in online marketing, and the training company that I signed-up with, the Six Figure Mentors, also provided a one-stop-shop digital system in addition to the training (it includes lots of software that you need plus your hosting and website etc). This may not be for everyone, but for me, building my own affiliate marketing business has been a revelation. The digital system I used was a huge time saver, as I didn't have to piece together what I needed to learn - and you don't know what you don't know! I wanted support and mentors. I also thought that if I want to get really good at something - which I did, I'm competitive by nature so not one for doing things by halves - then I needed to invest in my own learning. In the same way that I have friends doing Open University courses and MBAs, I studied internet marketing and it has opened a whole world of exciting possibilities that don't leave me dependent on the corporate ladder!

I hope this has been useful to you and you now know a little more about what affiliate marketing is. If you are interested in learning more then please feel free to sign-up for my complimentary training series by visiting the Getting Started page on my website [http://mummyentrepreneur.co.uk/getting-started/]

How Do You Sell Digital Products?

Promoting and selling digital products requires getting your product in front of your audience. It's a lot easier to make a sale when your ideal customer feels as if they just discovered the holy grail because you put it right in front of them so they could not miss it.

Your Website and Blog

Everything starts with your blog or website. It's not a good idea to send people someplace else to make a purchase from you unless you're making money from an affiliate sale.

Social Media Marketing

In addition to a blog, promote everything you offer on each of the social media platforms that your audience uses. Every post you make, every sale you have, every story you can relate to, and so forth should be shared on social media. Also, add sharing buttons to your email marketing messages and blog posts.

Content Marketing

Write blog posts, guest posts, and how-to articles. Make videos all about your product. What problems does your product solve? Create content about the problem so you can educate your audience about it, then offer them the solution too.

Paid Advertisements

Don't ignore paid ads. They work. Do try to get everything else in place before running a paid advertisement. You need a good landing page, check-out process and so forth to make this worth it.

Influencer Marketing

Once you have your product ready, find some social media influencers to take up your cause. You can pay them, or you can find some who will work for a percentage of sales using an affiliate link. An influencer will simply talk about your product, maybe blog about it, and give their honest thoughts about it.

Affiliate Marketing

This is why your choice of shopping cart tech is so important. If you're selling digital products, you need an affiliate program to make more money. Paying an affiliate half of the price of the product is a small price to pay to get more sales when the product is fully digital.

Creating More Landing Pages

Studies show that having more landing pages is better than having fewer. Create dedicated landing pages for every freebie you have, even your email list subscription, and potentially affiliate products too. This can look like a blog post or a page, but it should be fully dedicated to only one product per page.

Free Trials

Depending on the type of digital product you sell, free trials may work wonders. This is useful for apps, software, and plugins. You may want to offer an example of what your other products look like by creating some freebies that show what you do.

Best Affiliate Marketing Ideas - How to Get Out of Your Financial Crisis

As a stay at home mom, it can truly be difficult to find enough income to live on or enough to pay your bills with. I know firsthand how frustrating it can be when even with all your efforts, the money just isn't coming in. Don't let that happen to you with a successful affiliate marketing business!

If you're anything like me - working multiple jobs just to pay the bills - you need a good online business to help make ends meet. The secret to being successful is finding something you enjoy doing so much, it becomes your full time job.

The fastest way to find what you'll love doing is to find something you already do - whether it's children's arts & crafts, writing articles, or crocheting! Whatever your strengths, you'll be right at home if you already do what you're writing about. You'll have so many free minutes when you're writing one article that you'll have enough to write a few e books. You'll never spend money on advertising because you'll already have so many ways to reach your target market. And you'll earn more because you'll have more expertise!

Finding something that you already do so much that it becomes your full time job is the best solution to your financial problems. So don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Find a method that you enjoy doing and you will be happy doing it. I don't care how much you think you'll make in one day! It has to be something that you feel so good about it becomes your life! If it makes you feel uncomfortable to put your time and effort into something, it's probably not a good idea!

2. Find something you're passionate about because you will feel much better writing about something you're passionate about. You'll also be much loved by yourself and your audience. As your audience will appreciate your passion, you'll also appreciate their passion. This way, you're going to grow your audience by word-of-mouth advertising, which means more money for you no matter how much you make in a day!

3. Find something you're good at because you will do better when you're a pro like your audience is. This will also help you to make more cash in your online business! This is called complementarity!

In conclusion, this way of thinking is very powerful indeed. It's based on very sound scientific and proven concepts. But more importantly, it's something that you should also believe in.

This way of thinking can get you out of whatever financial crisis you're in. It can also help you to achieve financial freedom.

Affiliate Marketing Strategy - What Are The Basics For Making Money In Affiliate Marketing?

One of the best ways to have an income from affiliate marketing is to choose a niche with which you are familiar with it is very well understood. One of the key factors which contribute to earning income online is knowing what you are selling.

A niche within a niche is very helpful. If you know almost anything about the product, you will be able to market it. One of my favourite ways to market is to create articles and submit them to big blogging directories.

Once I have a niche within a niche, I'll make sure I have good keyword research tools and make sure I have very good content. I'll make sure that I have some of my own affiliate links sprinkled in some of my posts to increase my page rank and to increase my site traffic.

This is an ongoing task. The best place to keep track of all of your efforts and your website traffic in one place is with a squeeze page. This is a page where you have to collect names and emails and submit to a growing list of websites as well as having a opt-in mailing list for any products you may have coming out in the future.

When you have your web and mailing lists you have all the traffic, contacts, and websites you could ever want. You can go from niche to niche as you please and not have to worry about being away from your computer for very long.

The above is what I use for a general affiliate marketing strategy. The more specific the niche is, the harder it is to make money. One of the best ways for this is through using free resources to learn. For example if the niche is health, you want to learn about the best diet and supplements and you want to become an expert in this area. This is something that you cannot do if you're not researching yourself. This will take a lot of your time and be hard work but the returns will be much higher than if you were free to choose any affiliate program and were going to promote it as you like.

* Getting in touch with the product owner.

"Getting in touch with the product owner" is the second method listed in the above paragraph. The reason I call it "Getting in touch with the product owner" is because you have to go through some hoops with the product owner. If you're smart, you'll have an email list, and a website of your own with a very good opt in list. If you have to create an email autoresponder, then you're better off with the email autoresponder of your own because you can get more emails out to your list faster and it will only take a few minutes to have a great list. If your not smart you won't have the time to create a great email autoresponder of your own.

The third method for the affiliate marketing strategy is to write articles and submit them to the top article directories. For most niches this will take a lot of your time, however if your niche is very broad like "weight loss" then this is a very easy way to make money.

The fourth method is to write blogs on the topic of your niche. A blog is more of a diary that you post your views and comments on all kinds of topics.

The fifth method and final method is to get your site indexed in the search engines. This is the hardest method for most people. There are different strategies for doing so.

* Article marketing. This is the easiest method for most people. This is because you write up a blog or a mini site on your topic and add your articles there and if Google or Yahoo sees that they will index it and give it good ranking. This is the most effective way though out any niche.

The methods above are the basic ones that you need to be smart with. As you can see the affiliate marketing strategy is actually very easy. It's not hard for most people but it does demand a decent effort from you.

If you follow these 3 strategies plus create your own affiliate website then you should make a decent return on your investment.

Affiliate Marketing Guide - How to Increase Your Revenue Through Affiliate Programs

Affiliate marketing is an approach to online business, which has grown in popularity over the last few years. The Internet has changed the way people buy and sell products, and the affiliate program is one of the most lucrative ways of making money online.

In this brief article, I will discuss affiliate marketing, its importance to a website and the best strategy to use to create one. After reading this article, you should be better prepared to start looking to earn some money with affiliate marketing.

So, what is affiliate marketing? Basically, affiliate marketing is a kind of performance-based compensation plan in which one or more merchants reward one or more affiliates per visitor or client brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. In exchange for this recognition, the affiliate is rewarded financially for bringing the customer or visitor to the merchant's site.

There are various ways to monetize an affiliate marketing channel. For example, one affiliate might get paid for every sale that results from a link that is clicked from their page. In this case, they might receive a commission for every sale, or they might be compensated only when a customer actually buys something from their page.

Although building websites which are genuinely interesting and useful is a great way to earn money passively through search engines recognising how much people are staying on and consuming a website's content. That's because the search engines will send free visitors,. But creating such websites is both time consuming, and recognition can be slow to appear.

Hence, one of the more popular ways of monetizing affiliate marketing channels on the web is to use pay per click advertising (PPC). The merchant will pay an affiliate only if and when they actually deliver a visitor to their site.

Therefore, it is crucial for the affiliate to be visible and active on the web. But, having a recognised high authority website is not the only way to do this. Pay per click (PPC) advertising brings results within hours of the affiliate being approved as a PPC advertiser, and some initial ads have been created and activated for display.

Pay per click advertising works best when you have a targeted audience, since this is the audience likely to be interested in the products or services you are advertising. There are many ways to find the right "targets", and the affiliate marketing novice only need follow one or more of the many good online courses to discover how to gain that audience.

However, even when you do have a large audience, there is still the chance that your ad will not be clicked on. Even the most seasoned affiliate marketer will tell you how they made what they thought was a winning offer or ad, only for it to be ignored.

As such, it is necessary to constantly test your pay per click strategies in order to find out which ads bring in the most revenue. Those that are successful, gain their success through their persistence. They do not become discouraged when an ad campaign flops. They say that, on the contrary, they learn by such experiences of what isn't working. It is all useful knowledge for them.

Another way of increasing your affiliate marketing revenue is through the use of social media channels. A great way of monetizing your channel is to make a connection with a highly targeted audience. By doing this, your audience is much more likely to purchase the products or services that you are promoting.

This increases the chances of revenue growth and also ensures that your customers remain loyal to your brand even after they have become accustomed to using your products and services.

The best way to increase revenue through affiliate marketing programs is to use multiple streams of income in order to gain the most from your marketing campaigns.

The easiest way of achieving this is through getting a good conversion rate on your website or PPC ads in one campaign. Moving on and using that experience to promote another product.

High conversion rates ensure that your customers remain loyal to your brand, and are more likely to buy the products and services you are offering in the future.

To help increase the odds of your website conversion rates being high, it is advisable to implement a number of tactics into your marketing strategy. These include:
  • ensuring that your website content is always fresh and up-to-date;
  • using creative banner graphics and adverts;
  • offering incentives to visitors who make purchases; and
  • making use of the right affiliate marketing network.
All of these tactics can work in synergy to ensure that you increase your revenue through affiliate marketing programs.

Another aspect to consider for increasing affiliate marketing revenue is to focus on gaining a strong niche following. When promoting products and services related to your niche, it is important to target potential buyers through a tightly controlled marketing campaign. Attract people of the same mindset as yourself by communicating your own personality and original outlook on life. Be honest and truthful and people will come to respect and trust you.

By targeting a tightly controlled audience of your "fans", you will be able to greatly increase the number of people who will be interested in purchasing the product or service that you are offering.

For instance, if you are promoting a product for dog lovers, it is advisable to focus on providing quality content that caters specifically to the interests this target audience. This can make the entire process a lot easier, as it will increase the chances of gaining a loyal audience.

Additionally, by focusing on a niche audience, you are far more likely to build a long-term relationship with your audience, which can lead to a significant increase in sales over time.

What Is Affiliate Marketing - And Why You Should Use It

If you're interested in working flexibly from your laptop, affiliate marketing might be an option. With many products online for affiliates to promote and many ways to promote them, it's a very flexible business model which can give you time and financial freedom. Initially, though many affiliates struggle to make sales. It's a process to learn the skill of marketing affiliate products. However, if you're determined to learn that skill, it can serve you for the rest of your life.

Once you're successful as an affiliate, you can live anywhere, work for yourself and never need another job or employee ever again. This is a large "prize" and one worth working for. But many drop out before they get to the point of even making a single sale.

The learning curve for affiliate marketing can be a steep one, and there are no guarantees. You'll need to sell something before you can make anything. So if you're desperate for money it's probably not something you should rely on for income straight away. But if you're serious about building an income from the internet and willing to put in the effort, the rewards can be great.

There's many ways to do affiliate marketing and depending on your own circumstances you can opt for one of several strategies, or choose a couple. The general advice though is to pick a marketing strategy and stick to it for the long term until you get traction. Jumping from one strategy to another can mean you spread yourself too thin. \

Any strategy can be tough, so it's a good idea to stick to one you're comfortable with. Blogging, or content marketing is a slower strategy than through using paid marketing. Some affiliates will invest in high ticket programs and then use paid marketing to build and scale their business quite quickly. This requires a lot more investment than someone who wants to use free programs and generate traffic through blogging, for example.

Depending on your own particular circumstances you can choose a strategy to suit you and your budget. Free marketing strategies can take much longer though and require a lot more work. Blogging, or video creation are two such strategies. By uploading a video to YouTube each day, or creating a blog post, you shouldn't expect too much to happen in the short term. But over months and years of doing this activity, you can generate a nice passive income through promoting affiliate products through your content.

Over time, your content will grow and videos and posts you wrote years ago can still generate you an income. As your volume of content grows you should see your income growing from sales too. This will also depend on a number of factors too, of course. Depending on your topic and ability to create useful and interesting content, this can take several months or even years before you see regular traction in your online business.

A much faster method is to use list building and paid marketing. With list building, you create a list of email subscribers and send them regular emails through an autoresponder. As your list grows, and you build relationships with your subscribers, they should get to know, like and trust you. You monetise your email list through providing useful affiliate products which will be of value to your subscribers.

Initially though, as an affiliate marketer, it can be tough. With a list of only 90 people, it's much more difficult to make sales than with a list of 90,000 subscribers. In the early days, it can be difficult to see this, and all you look at is the lack of sales you have made!

Affiliates, therefore, need to be patient and understand that they are building a business. Many affiliates don't see this though and quit far too early. Before even building an email list of 1000 subscribers, they declare that "it doesn't work" and quit!

A good analogy of affiliate marketing is to look at the Chinese bamboo tree. A Chinese bamboo tree gestates underground for 4-5 years before anything breaks the soil surface.

Once it does break through the soil, it can shoot up to 90 feet tall in a six week period.

Affiliate marketing is much the same. The gestation period can be months or years. This is the hardest time for affiliates because they have no proof that their business is working.

There are some other ways you can optimise your traction with an online affiliate business too. For years I struggled with affiliate marketing because I didn't know this. I joined Amazon and eBay affiliate programs and worked hard building content only to make next to nothing!

Later I found out about digital products which paid much more in terms of commissions. Amazon, for example, pays from 1-11% commission on a product sold by an affiliate. Digital products typically pay much more and often from 40% to even 100% in some cases.

Subscription digital products too offer the affiliate a greater opportunity to earn regular income from a small number of sales. As a beginner, it's definitely worth using subscription affiliate products. These are things such as memberships and software products used by online businesses themselves.

A subscription product can allow a relatively new affiliate to start earning regular commissions much more quickly. Since initially getting your first commission is the hardest part, subscriptions give you an added bonus and help you attain more stability with the same amount of work.

High ticket products are another consideration for affiliates too. With a high ticket digital product, you can earn much larger commissions for a single sale. A $100 product, for example, might offer you a $40 commission. Whereas a $1000 product will give you a nice $400 pay day - with what amounts often to the same amount of work.

It's also worth joining an online community and getting the help and support of mentors if you're going down the affiliate path. With a mentor, you have support and guidance. In those moments when you want to quit, they will put you back on track and support and assist you. When there's only you working alone, it can be very difficult when you're not making much progress.

Why Sales Funnels Are The Next Thing In Affiliate Marketing

The term "Sales Funnel" might be new to you. It's a marketing technique that's been around for decades in the offline world. It's also a technique that's been routinely used by product sellers online.

It's a way for a seller to make more money from the people who visit their site.

What's new is that affiliate marketers are now also starting to use sales funnels to boost their own earnings.

There are two general types of sales funnels:

1. The Multi-Product Funnel

There's the funnel that's always used on the likes of JVZoo, Warrior Plus and sometimes on ClickBank.

This is where you buy a low-priced front-end product and are then subjected to a variety of upsells and one-time offers that are designed to part you with more of your money.

The goal of this type of funnel is to sell you multiple products in quick succession before you really have time to consider your options.

The offers often have timers showing how little time you have left to make a decision or you're told that limited quantities are available.

2. The Single Product Funnel

The second type of funnel is geared around selling you a single product.

The purpose of the funnel is to repeatedly expose you to the product and explain why it will be useful, if not essential, to you or your business.

This is often achieved by attracting a visitor to sign up to get a free product and then sending them a series of emails describing the benefits of the product you're trying to sell them.

A less common tactic is to provide free training and information to prospects regardless of whether they end up buying or not.

Sales Funnels In Use

If you've ever bought anything in the Make Money Online niche, you've already been exposed to the multi-product sales funnel.

They can often leave a bad taste and you end up feeling like you've been hounded into spending a lot more money than you intended. That can build some resentment in you.

If you recognize that feeling, is that something you'd want to bring out in your own customers?

Don't forget that those who look at your offers are real people, not credit cards with legs.

Treat your potential customers just like you'd like to be treated by a seller.

That's why I prefer the second type of funnel.

There's no hard sell involved. You're giving your prospects something free to entice them in the door.

From there, you start introducing them to your offer and why it might be a good fit for them.

You're trying to persuade them that what you're offering will make their lives easier or solve a problem for them.

If they buy, then they've made the decision to buy.

You haven't forced them to make the decision by using some false scarcity tactics like a countdown timer or saying only a limited number of copies are available.

Because a prospect has made the decision to buy on their own terms, they'll feel much better about their buying decision.

You'll have earned their trust and you can use that to further build your relationship with them so that you can market other offers to them more successfully in the future.

So How Does This Tie In With Affiliate Marketing?

In general, affiliate marketers are given access to affiliate links and resources like image ads and emails that they can send out.

These are used to drive traffic to an offer.

However, when a prospect buys or signs up on a squeeze page, they go onto the seller's email list, not the affiliate's.

That means that the affiliate has lost access to that prospect forever and it's the seller who can market to that customer time after time.

The better affiliate networks will also pay affiliates on products that are in a seller's sales funnel.

So yes, you can earn commissions on multiple products.

But what you, as the affiliate, don't know is if the seller is offering products that are not in the "public" sales funnel to people on their list.

So you could be missing out on commissions as a result.

Typically, a sales funnel starts out with a low-priced product, offers higher-priced products in the funnel, culminating in one or more high-ticket products at the end of the funnel.

This tends to be where sellers make the bulk of their money. It's far easier to sell one high-ticket product than tens of low-ticket ones.

The seller is quite within their rights to market products that you won't earn a commission on.

After all, they own the email list that the buyers are now subscribed to.

So, to counter this, affiliate marketers have been creating their own sales funnels.

They select the front-end product, the upsells and any high-ticket products to promote.

These can all be from different sellers. But you, the affiliate, may think that some products complement each other better than the products in a seller's own funnel do.

Yes, the prospect will be exposed to each seller's funnel as well as the affiliate's.

But the affiliate knows that a sale of any product in their own funnel will generate a commission.

That said, I still think that the Single Product funnel is the better approach from a customer-relationship point of view.

If a prospect ultimately does not buy into your offer, you still have them on your email list. And now it's time to promote a different offer to them.

You can market to these prospects as often as you want, as they're on your email list.

So the greatest advantages of building your own sales funnels are:
  1. You get to add prospects to your own email list
  2. Your email list is a business asset you fully own. Its usefulness doesn't depend on the whims or algorithm changes of Google, Facebook or whoever.
  3. Email marketing is still the best way to make money online.
  4. You can market to your subscribers as often as you want.
  5. You can build your own unique sales funnels, combining products from a variety of sellers. As an affiliate marketer, you should never send people directly to an offer. You're basically giving sole access to that person to the seller.

You should always send people to a squeeze page first - one that you own - and it's only after they sign up there that you send them on to your affiliate offer.

This way, you've captured their email address and they are now part of your 100%-owned business asset - your email list.

How Do You Build A Sales Funnel?

If you use WordPress, there are plugins that will build squeeze (opt-in) pages and other types of funnel page for you.

But creating an actual sales funnel is not the easiest. These plugins are great at creating individual pages rather than an entire funnel. It can be done, but you need to be very organized and keep track of how each page relates to another.

Another approach is to use a service like Clickfunnels that's designed exclusively for building sales funnels. There's a link to a review in my bio below if you want to know more.

With a service like this, you don't even need your own website. The tool can do everything for you.

I hope you now see the advantages in creating your own sales funnels, whatever tool you end up using to create them.
