Seven Surprising Places You're Using Copywriting (And You Probably Don't Realize It)

When you hear the word "copywriting" do you immediately think of long sales pages, squeeze pages, and unwanted bulk mail?

You're not alone in that thinking, but the fact is, copywriting is more than just sales messages. In fact, as an online business owner, most of the content you produce could be called copywriting at least in some sense. After all, if you're creating content with the ultimate goal of selling something, that is by definition copywriting.

1-Facebook

Sure we all like to hang out on Facebook and chat with friends, catch up on the latest funny videos, and enjoy a mindless "quiz" or two. But for coaches, Facebook is much more than that. It's a place to connect with potential clients, and that means that when you're sharing your latest blog post or program with your business friends, you have to keep good copywriting in mind.

2-LinkedIn Profile

What makes you stand out from the other coaches in your niche? Your LinkedIn profile is where you share what makes you the best person to solve your ideal client's problems. It's where you shout about your credentials and let your ego run the show. Think of your LinkedIn profile like a resume, and be sure to list your most impressive credentials.

3-About Page

Here's your chance to have some fun while blowing your own horn. It's important to know that the about page is often the most visited page on a website, so it's a critical piece of your overall brand and message. The purpose of your about page is to entice people to want to learn more about your services, so be sure to include a call to action on the page.

4-Blog Posts

All blog posts have a job to do. Maybe they're meant to lead your reader to a sales page. Perhaps you're asking for readers to subscribe to your mailing list. Maybe your blog post is designed to start a conversation. Or maybe it's just sharing great content and inviting readers to learn more by clicking on related posts. Whatever the job, it's copywriting that entices your reader to take that next action.

5-Twitter

One hundred and forty characters is precious little space for creating compelling content, yet that's exactly what you must do if you hope to use Twitter as part of your overall marketing strategy. Think of tweets like email subject lines, and craft them to convey as much information as possible while still enticing readers to take action.

6-Graphics

If you are using graphics for posts on social media platforms (think Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest), you should be conscious of the copywriting there also. It's just called "short copy" and it's still important to make it effective, especially because it's even shorter than a tweet. And of course you may have other copy that goes along with the graphic.

7-Email

Whether you're sending an email about a new product or service or simply letting readers know you have a new blog post up, your email definitely qualifies as copywriting. In fact, even the personal emails you send to prospective clients contain what we would call copywriting.

The fact is, copywriting is everywhere in your business, from your sales pages to your invoices. Whenever you ask a reader to take some action, you're writing copy, and the more comfortable with the idea of it, the better (and more natural) you'll become.

How to Do Marketing With a Low Budget

Marketing your business online inexpensively is a real possibility. You can practically market your business for free if you know what to do.

Content Marketing

This is one of your most important marketing weapons in your arsenal. In fact, you'll use content for all types of marketing including every inexpensive way mentioned below. Content is needed that sells, educates, engages, informs and excites. You need content for all aspects of marketing - up to and including customer relations.

Social Media

Social media like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram all have a place in your online marketing endeavours. Well, they might. You have to determine which social media networks will work for you and it will depend on your niche and your audience. Where do they hang out? Be there.

Blog Often

Blogging is a big source of traffic and in some instances the only source of traffic for many website owners. It's a great way to get the message out to your audience while not spending much money. It can take time to get used to doing it, but writing a post a day can help gain momentum. But you also want to consider doing longer blog posts, less often, to get results.

Remember SEO

If you are not familiar with SEO (search engine optimization), it's important to learn. SEO changes constantly and is how you optimize your website for search engines. There is both on-page and off-page SEO that you can do for your business.

Perfect Your Website

Your website is your storefront, and even if you have a bricks and mortar storefront, your website is the storefront your customers will likely see first. If it doesn't look great, why would anyone purchase from you?

Join Relevant Communities

Communities are a great way to get your name out there. There are communities you can join on Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as self-hosted and owned "inner circles" and mastermind clubs that you can join. They can help you get known as an expert, as well as help you get more links to your website.

Get Listed

There are directories that are free or inexpensive that you can join to help market your business. Ensure that the directory is niche-oriented and that it is run by a reputable person so that you are listed with other reputable business owners. You don't want to be on a list that is associated with spam. Your local chamber of commerce is one such list that you can get on for the price of your membership.

Every successful entrepreneur has made mistakes in their business at some time or another. It's all part of the learning process. Although mistakes are going to happen, you can avoid a number of common marketing mistakes. Download my free checklist, The 10 Most Common Marketing Mistakes at https://jonallo.com/mistakes

How to Improve Your Content Marketing

Improving your content can grow your email list, because it gives more opportunities for your audience to sign up. Plus, you will be giving them a reason to sign up by delivering excellent content that's targeted toward their needs.

Add Multiple CTAs

Don't just put a box on the right side-bar asking for people to sign up for your newsletter. That isn't enough. Now you need to add CTAs in numerous areas to get their attention and increase sign-up rates. Put one under each post, on the right side-bar, in a lightbox and inside content with content upgrades.

Create Content Upgrades

A terrific and effective way to get more sign-ups is to be more specific by adding content upgrades to the content you offer free. You can do this within a blog post, within articles you publish on LinkedIn, and as a guest writer. A content upgrade is information that helps clarify and make the content the audience is reading more useful. For example, a free MS Excel chore chart template with an article on how to get your family to share chores would make an excellent upgrade.

Cross-Promote Your Content

When you publish content anywhere, have a plan on how you'll promote the content across all channels. This makes your content better because it looks more cohesive. For example, if you write a blog about eating less sugar, you might share recipes on Pinterest that use less sugar, and videos of recipes on Facebook that use less sugar too.

Tweak Titles

If your content is not getting clicked on, you can't get sign-ups. So, make sure your titles are compelling enough to get people to click through. Don't trick them, though. Be straightforward but clear about what's inside the content with the titles.

Remember to Add Appropriate Headers

When people read online, they need a lot more white space than when reading on paper. Add headers that tell them what's inside the next paragraph so that they can be propelled to keep reading more.

Use the Right Keywords

If you're not sure what good keywords are, study more about the proper use of keywords so that you can improve SEO. Search engine optimization is important for building your list because that's how people will find your content in a search.

Use a Lightbox Pop-Up to Gate Your Content

You don't want to turn readers away, but you do want to maximize the potential of the viewer signing up. Add a lightbox pop-up to your website so that it waits a bit, then pops up asking for a sign-up to continue reading. Make it optional so that they can X out of it if they don't want to sign up.

Deliver on Your Promises

When people do sign up, remind them of where they signed up, why they signed up, and what you will be sending them. Then deliver on those promises. More people will want to open your email messages if they find them valuable.

How To Scale Content Creation

Scaling content creation enables you to get the most out of the content that you spend money, time and resources on. Plus, it allows you to pad that with other people's content to bring to your audience a plethora of content that adds value to them and helps them to make purchase decisions.

Use Curated Content
Collect content that you believe your audience will be interested that you did not write. Include content that is about your niche and other topics you feel that your target audience will find educational and valuable.

Share curated content
Be sure to share this content in order to keep your audience engaged and informed. The great thing about curated content is that it enables you to participate in discussions across the web. It adds interest of your brand by those authors and allows you to impress your audience.

Know your niche
To properly curate content it's important that you understand your own brand and niche enough to choose the right content to curate. Plus, it's important to always give the right attributions and credit to the original author.

Repost Original Content
It costs a lot of money, time and effort to create content for your niche. You need content for everything, and every platform and every form, and you need it on a regular basis. If you're not repurposing and reusing some of your content, you're not getting the most out of your investment.

Share more than once
Sharing new content on social media needs to be done more than once to ensure it gets maximum views. With the way social media works, on a feed system it is likely only a very small percentage of followers, or likes, will see the share more than once, or even once.

Use older content
Alternatively, if an issue comes up that the old content piece answers then go ahead and share it again, even if it's months old. It's also okay to update the content first to be more relevant if any part of the original piece is out of date. As long as the content is relevant, original, and makes sense at that time, share away.

Use Multiple Platforms
You probably are part of many different online communities and networks - Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook groups, forums, groups and so forth. Make sure to take advantage of this fact. If you find a fresh way to share the same content throughout all these platforms then you can share the same content.

Edit for network personality
The important thing to do here is to be sure to craft each message a little differently for each network. For example, you might want to share the content in a more visual way on Pinterest than you do on Twitter.

Use different formats
A blog post becomes a slide share, becomes a video for YouTube, and becomes a podcast for iTunes. It really is that simple to reuse your content. After all, the format doesn't change the research you've already done. You're just changing the format and sometimes the mood of the research to participate on multiple platforms.

When you write and manage your content correctly, it will make your life easier and your business grow. To discover how the most successful online entrepreneurs plan, create and deliver great content, download my free checklist, The 5 Step Content Strategy, at https://jonallo.com/contentplan

How Do You Sell Digital Products?

Promoting and selling digital products requires getting your product in front of your audience. It's a lot easier to make a sale when your ideal customer feels as if they just discovered the holy grail because you put it right in front of them so they could not miss it.

Your Website and Blog

Everything starts with your blog or website. It's not a good idea to send people someplace else to make a purchase from you unless you're making money from an affiliate sale.

Social Media Marketing

In addition to a blog, promote everything you offer on each of the social media platforms that your audience uses. Every post you make, every sale you have, every story you can relate to, and so forth should be shared on social media. Also, add sharing buttons to your email marketing messages and blog posts.

Content Marketing

Write blog posts, guest posts, and how-to articles. Make videos all about your product. What problems does your product solve? Create content about the problem so you can educate your audience about it, then offer them the solution too.

Paid Advertisements

Don't ignore paid ads. They work. Do try to get everything else in place before running a paid advertisement. You need a good landing page, check-out process and so forth to make this worth it.

Influencer Marketing

Once you have your product ready, find some social media influencers to take up your cause. You can pay them, or you can find some who will work for a percentage of sales using an affiliate link. An influencer will simply talk about your product, maybe blog about it, and give their honest thoughts about it.

Affiliate Marketing

This is why your choice of shopping cart tech is so important. If you're selling digital products, you need an affiliate program to make more money. Paying an affiliate half of the price of the product is a small price to pay to get more sales when the product is fully digital.

Creating More Landing Pages

Studies show that having more landing pages is better than having fewer. Create dedicated landing pages for every freebie you have, even your email list subscription, and potentially affiliate products too. This can look like a blog post or a page, but it should be fully dedicated to only one product per page.

Free Trials

Depending on the type of digital product you sell, free trials may work wonders. This is useful for apps, software, and plugins. You may want to offer an example of what your other products look like by creating some freebies that show what you do.

An effective sales funnel can put your business on autopilot and consistently convert leads into customers if you structure it the right way. To help you set up an effective funnel for your business, download my free Sales Funnel Checklist at https://jonallo.com/salesfunnel

Affiliate Marketing Strategy - What Are The Basics For Making Money In Affiliate Marketing?

One of the best ways to have an income from affiliate marketing is to choose a niche with which you are familiar with it is very well understood. One of the key factors which contribute to earning income online is knowing what you are selling.

A niche within a niche is very helpful. If you know almost anything about the product, you will be able to market it. One of my favourite ways to market is to create articles and submit them to big blogging directories.

Once I have a niche within a niche, I'll make sure I have good keyword research tools and make sure I have very good content. I'll make sure that I have some of my own affiliate links sprinkled in some of my posts to increase my page rank and to increase my site traffic.

This is an ongoing task. The best place to keep track of all of your efforts and your website traffic in one place is with a squeeze page. This is a page where you have to collect names and emails and submit to a growing list of websites as well as having a opt-in mailing list for any products you may have coming out in the future.

When you have your web and mailing lists you have all the traffic, contacts, and websites you could ever want. You can go from niche to niche as you please and not have to worry about being away from your computer for very long.

The above is what I use for a general affiliate marketing strategy. The more specific the niche is, the harder it is to make money. One of the best ways for this is through using free resources to learn. For example if the niche is health, you want to learn about the best diet and supplements and you want to become an expert in this area. This is something that you cannot do if you're not researching yourself. This will take a lot of your time and be hard work but the returns will be much higher than if you were free to choose any affiliate program and were going to promote it as you like.

* Getting in touch with the product owner.

"Getting in touch with the product owner" is the second method listed in the above paragraph. The reason I call it "Getting in touch with the product owner" is because you have to go through some hoops with the product owner. If you're smart, you'll have an email list, and a website of your own with a very good opt in list. If you have to create an email autoresponder, then you're better off with the email autoresponder of your own because you can get more emails out to your list faster and it will only take a few minutes to have a great list. If your not smart you won't have the time to create a great email autoresponder of your own.

The third method for the affiliate marketing strategy is to write articles and submit them to the top article directories. For most niches this will take a lot of your time, however if your niche is very broad like "weight loss" then this is a very easy way to make money.

The fourth method is to write blogs on the topic of your niche. A blog is more of a diary that you post your views and comments on all kinds of topics.

The fifth method and final method is to get your site indexed in the search engines. This is the hardest method for most people. There are different strategies for doing so.

* Article marketing. This is the easiest method for most people. This is because you write up a blog or a mini site on your topic and add your articles there and if Google or Yahoo sees that they will index it and give it good ranking. This is the most effective way though out any niche.

The methods above are the basic ones that you need to be smart with. As you can see the affiliate marketing strategy is actually very easy. It's not hard for most people but it does demand a decent effort from you.

If you follow these 3 strategies plus create your own affiliate website then you should make a decent return on your investment.

How to Choose Content for Your Blog

Are you stuck about what type of content you should post on your blog? There are so many types of posts you can use to help you come up with just the right content that will engage your audience, and help you convert visitors.

Video Content

Just because you have a blog doesn't mean all the content has to be written. You can also add video content. To help the search engine find the content, write a good description, fill out that alt information, and give the video a relevant name. You can also add a transcript.

Well-Placed Images

Don't forget to add images to your blog post that help enhance the meaning of your post and grab the attention of your visitors. Remember to give the image a relevant name. For example, don't name it "IMG423"; give it a descriptive name like "steakcookingdemo" instead.

"How-to" Content

Everyone loves reading good how-to content and tutorials. Anything you can show your audience how to do is fodder for a good tutorial post. You can add images, text, and video to enhance the usefulness of these posts.

Industry News

Keeping up to date on industry news is a great way to show what an expert you are and to provide that information to your readers without them having to look elsewhere. If they realize that you are a good one-stop for the information they need, they'll come to you first.

Controversial Content

Sometimes you want to stir the pot. The reason is that it can cause your content to go viral. But do this with caution. If you can cause good controversy and not negative controversy, that's even better.

List Article

The article you're reading right now is a list article. This is a good way to provide information in chunks that people like reading. Reading content without headings can be hard on the eye and cause people to click away. A good list is easy to read and to write.

Checklists

These are useful types of content that you can use as content upgrades to help people transition to your list. Add them to the content you have already created when relevant, and require a sign-up to get the download.

Reviews

Any niche offers an opportunity to earn a little extra income by conducting reviews and linking to the product that you recommend in the review. Sometimes a company may decide they like the reviews you have done on your own, and ask to work with you by providing free products too.

Problems and Solutions

This is a terrific type of blog post that is very interesting for your readers. If you can describe a problem and then tell them about the different solutions that are available (including yours), they may click the link to the offer and you'll earn money.

How to Make a Blog Successful

Blogging is essential in today's content marketing world. In fact, your blog is at the center of all of your content marketing efforts. Without an understanding of the ways in which you can ensure blogging success, you're just shooting in the dark hoping for a miracle. Miracles do happen online, but you're more likely to have success if it is planned.

Blogging provides many numbers that you can view and study. Viewing the numbers may help you do more of what is working, and less of what is not working. With the numbers, you can tell how many people are visiting your blog, what they're reading, where they came from and more.

Here are some numbers you'll want to look at:

How Many Visitors

This is pretty self-explanatory, but it's a good indicator if your content marketing is working or not. If your number of visitors is steadily moving upwards then your content is doing its job.

How Many New Visitors

Knowing how many visitors are new is also an important number to notice. This helps you know if you're getting a rise in notice and a wider audience.

Where the Visitors Came From

This is an important metric, because if you have more visitors from one place over another you can then put more effort in the place that is converting.

How Many Repeat Visitors

Having repeat visitors can be a good indication of having content that readers want to consume. If you have low repeat visitors, you may not be converting well or retargeting visitors well.

How Many Visitors Bounce Off

Most blogs have some bounces but if you have a super-high bounce rate, it can be a sign of poor targeting.

How Many Visitors Stay to Read

Look at how many people read your blog posts, and what they're reading. Create more content that they like to read.

How Many Visitors Comment

Engagement is a great sign of good social media marketing and if you don't have enough, do what you can to get more.

And the two most important numbers of all:

How Many Visitors Sign Up for Email Lists

One of the points of driving traffic to your website or blog is to get email subscribers. You should do what needs to be done to collect as many targeted subscribers as possible, because email is where you'll earn repeat website and blog readers and where you'll get customers.

How Many Subscribers Convert to Customers

The other number that is essential to know is how many subscribers convert to customers. This will help you know if what you're doing is working in the way you hope.

If you don't know this information, it's hard to know if what you're doing is working. If you really want to make a business exceed expectations and run a successful online marketing campaign, then looking at these numbers and responding with appropriate actions will make all the difference.

How to Start and Manage a Blog

Managing a blog is just like adding another product or service to your company in that this new endeavour will take time to set up, manage and promote. Blogs will require time in your schedule for marketing, networking, writing and scheduling in posts and managing comments. However blogging can be very flexible - you can schedule posts to go live twice a day or you can choose to post once a month, it is up to you.

Whatever you do, be consistent because readers will rely on new content and if they visit your site expecting new content that isn't there, they likely won't be back. That means your hard work attracting them to your blog was lost. The truth is that most of your readers will be new to your blog; about 80% of them have not visited it before. It is important to provide a reason for people to come back, to leave a comment or to share the posts with their friends on social media.

Before rushing the publication of your blog, take a few days to become familiar with the platform, the templates and tools that they have made available for you to use. Most blog service providers will also have an administration centre where you can learn a great deal about effectively managing and promoting your blog.

Take the time to browse a few blogs that reach an audience similar to the audience you hope to attract. Examine the kinds of advertisers utilizing their blog and try to determine who they are, what are they selling, and what may have attracted them to this blog. Take a look at the topics the blog has covered over the past year. Watch for ways that they have utilized the tools you hope to use on your blog. Look at their chosen theme, colours and imagery that are they using. Determine what you liked and what you didn't like about their blog, and make notes on thoughts you may have during this process. This information will help you refine your blog into something distinct and effective.

Once you have decided on who your ideal reader will be, the theme and design, the kind of content you will offer and the frequency you intend to post - now it is time to determine what you hope to get out of the blog. Perhaps you hope to generate sales or gain more customers. Perhaps you are using it to create dialogue, or solidify customer relations, or share information about your business activities, behind-the-scene topics and to highlight your green policies or celebrate suppliers' charitable donations. Maybe you are going to use the blog to reinforce and gain networking opportunities. It is perfectly fine to have several intentions for the blog, the point is to determine what they might be. Armed with this, the process of making content creation, blog policies and assigning staff to manage the blog becomes easier.

It is very helpful to create a few files on the computer to keep items easily accessible. Create a file to store future content, ideas for content and resources like EzineArticles.com for instance. Have a separate folder where you can store the images, ads and logos that will be used on the blog.

Just like your email signature, you'll want to create a small by-line that will be placed at the end of every post. This might be a logo, a business meme, a message to your readers, or simply a single URL to your business website.

Utilizing the option for multiple pages on the blog can be very helpful as well. Creating an About Us page is a great way to reach out to those new readers explaining who you are, links and contact information. A second page for media appearances is also a great idea, perhaps a third that offers reviews, endorsements or customer comments. Perhaps a page that has a contact form for reader feedback. The options are only limited by the blog platform (Blogspot, WordPress, e-commerce site, etc.) that you have decided to use.

Once you start blogging, be sure to encourage people to utilize the social media buttons located at the bottom of every post. Every time someone clicks on those media buttons your posts are shared with their social media contacts. Be sure to use those buttons yourself and encourage your staff to as well. Get connected with social media groups, forums, networks, article distribution sites, and any other outlet that is relative to your blog. Networking with other bloggers and like-minded businesses will help drive traffic to your new blog as well.

How Do You Market Your Blog?

When you have a blog, just posting content isn't going to get you a lot of views. But, you don't need to wait for people to find you. Instead, find ways to put yourself in front of your audience.

Write Relevant Content

This is probably the most important thing you can do to ensure that your blog is well liked by your audience. You need to know your audience, know their pain points, and understand your niche very well to write content that isn't only relevant but is also interesting to them.

Create Consistent Content

Once you start producing content for your blog, it needs to go out on a regular basis. That may seem like a tall order but if you really know your audience, you'll be able to create at least one blog post a week that is of interest to them. If you can't, you may need to rethink your niche, or you may need to hire someone to help you.

When you publish a new blog post, always share it immediately to all of your social media accounts. You want to be part of proudly promoting everything you publish. If you won't share it, why should they?

Share New Posts to Your Email List

Every time you publish a blog post, write up a blurb, link to the blog post, and add it to your autoresponder if it's evergreen or a broadcast if it's not evergreen. This will bring your viewers back to your website and encourage them to share too.

Add Content Upgrades to Build Your Email List

Every blog post you publish is an opportunity to add content upgrades. A content upgrade is content that you link to within a blog post that offers more information. Usually, it'll be downloadable, such as a checklist or cheat sheet that requires an email address to receive.

Participate in Your Niche Community

Every niche has a community. You should participate in that community as much as possible so that people are curious about you and want to read your blog posts. Some communities allow you to share and some don't, so follow the rules.

Pull Their Heart Strings

If you can connect to your viewers on an emotional level, they'll come back for more. Even if you're blogging about business you can show care, love, joy, and even sadness as you connect to your readers on a new level by being open yourself.

Create Headlines That Perform Well

Your headlines are important. Don't try to trick readers into clicking and then provide a post about something totally irrelevant to the headline or subject line. Instead, work hard to provide a good, keyword-rich headline that makes your viewers curious enough to click through.

Add Stand-Out Visuals

How a post looks is important too. Add visuals that enhance the message and draw attention to the what you're trying to explain in the post. Take some of your own photos and don't always use stock images as they are; crop them differently, add colors, and make it look interesting. Don't forget to name the image by the subject of the post.

How to Market Your Blog Articles

So, you've written a great blog article for your business and you want to share it with the world. Why not? Everyone should know about your great product or service, right? While that's certainly true, let's take a few steps first to ensure you know how to market your blog articles. After all, you wouldn't want to put so much time and effort into your blog articles and have them fall flat.

Review Your Blog Article

Is your blog article interesting to others? Do you speak clearly and in a comfortable tone? Do you get to your point quickly and support it with relevant information?

You'll want your blog article to be interesting to others and shareable on social media. So, take the time to look at it with a critical eye. And be sure to correct any spelling, grammar, and clarity issues with your copy. You don't want to be misunderstood or turn someone off because your blog has numerous errors.

Better yet, have a professional review your blog article and proofread/edit it for you. They'll catch things you may not have, and your blog will be exponentially better for having a professional review it.

(HINT: Spell-check is not your friend. It won't catch everything, and neither will you. Even proofreaders need proofreaders.)

Know Your Audience

Do some research about your audience, preferably before you start writing. Who are they? What are their dreams, hopes, desires, worries, and fears? What is their problem and how do you solve it? How would they want you to relate to them? Should your copy be casual and conversational or more formal and educational? Create a detailed customer profile, down to what they eat for breakfast, how they sleep and exercise, and what they do for fun. Get to know your audience first, and it will pay off later.

Optimize Your Blog Articles

You can have the greatest blog in the world, but if no one finds it then what does it matter? Before you post your blog, be sure you're taking every step to optimize it so that it shows up in search engine results. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Choose a longtail key phrase and use it in multiple places. Think about what people type into a search engine. Simply type your subject matter into a search and see what auto-populates. This will give you some clues about what people are looking for. (HINT: It's best to do this before you start writing.) Of course, you can also invest in keyword research for your website and subject matter. That way, you don't waste time trying to rank for low-volume searches (practically no one is searching for that) or high-competition searches (you're competing against the big guys here).

When you've decided on a key phrase, be sure to use it in the following places:
  • Headline (H1)
  • First 100 words, ideally first paragraph
  • At least one subheading (H2, H3)
  • Several times throughout
  • Call to Action
  • URL (blog page web address)
  • Title Tag (page name in search engine results)
  • Meta Description (description in search engine results)Add Imagery

Plan on using one to three royalty-free images for your blog article. You'll want to designate one as your feature image and, depending on the length of your article, add one or two more to break up long sections of text. Choose images that enhance your writing and add visual interest. Remember that the image may be the first thing people notice before reading your article, so keep it interesting.

Post It, and Don't Forget About It

Once your article is posted, pay attention to any engagement. If your blog receives comments, take the time to comment back and engage with your followers. They want to feel noticed and valued too. Answer questions and encourage continued communication.

More on How to Market Your Blog Articles

Posting your blog is only the beginning of your marketing efforts. At Precise, we encourage you to create three different social media posts for each blog article. Optimize your post for each channel (e.g., 280 characters or less plus 2 - 3 hashtags for Twitter, additional hashtags for Instagram) and use an image with each post too.

Test and measure each social media post to see which ones perform the best. Take your best performers and continue to schedule these posts on social media in the months to come (on different days and at different times).

Repurpose Your Blog Article Content

Next, make your blog articles work quadruple time for you by repurposing your content. You can take your social media post a few steps further for even more promotion. Here are a few ideas:
  • Create graphics using a few key takeaways from your blog
  • Create a video short with key points as well
  • Record a video of you talking about your blog. Include a few extra tidbits.
  • Record a YouTube video version of your blog.
  • Record a podcast version of your blog, or chat with another expert on the subject matter.
  • Link to other related blogs on your site to keep visitors interested.
  • Use your blog in promotional materials.
  • Add an email opt-in/sign-up on your blog posts.
  • Add social sharing buttons for each blog post.
  • Link to your post with a teaser in an e-newsletter.
  • Add your profile to your blog. Let people know who you are.
  • Create an infographic to go with your blog.
  • Submit your blog to an e-zine.
  • Submit your post to RSS directories.
  • Join a social sharing group.
  • And more! Take action on a half dozen or more of these ideas, and you're sure to garner attention for your blog article.
